360 Degree Feedback



Feedback is an important part of an individual's professional development. Often a 360 degree feedback performance evaluation is utilized for developing supervisors, managers, or executives. This process may also fall under several other common names such as: multi-rater feedback, full-circle appraisal, and group performance review. Organizations may choose to utilize this feedback and assessment process for individual employees or for developing entire teams or management structures. The 360 degree process collects feedback from bosses, colleagues, direct reports, team members, internal and external customers and vendors. The selection process varies and in some cases not all categories of raters will apply. For example some supervisors or managers may have little or no contact with external customers or vendors.


Appreciative Strategies provides 360 degree feedback options for clients that typically follow five (5) primary steps or action items:

 1) Introduction to the process, establishing participants (raters)
 2) Providing access to feedback instruments and guidelines for utilizing
 3) Collecting and processing the results of feedback
 4) Providing a comprehensive report to the employee and/or other designated persons
 5) Establishing links to organization strategy and creating a training plan

In this example the participant, Douglas Miller (a fictitious person), was rated on only a few competencies per category. Report detail, length, and complexity will vary from client-to-client. Working in consultation with the client Appreciative Strategies tailors each 360 feedback process to meet the clients need.
