This course begins by reviewing qualities that are important for leadership in today’s business climate including tough issues about emerging leadership trends and supporting organizational strategy. Participants then engage in a stimulating interactive discussion on a very popular workplace challenge - managing change. Enhanced skills on embracing and leading change are essential for any workplace leader and are part of this discussion.
Next participants will explore numerous factors that affect our communication process and examine two key communication issues, trust and respect. Strong listening skills are important to every leader and participants will perform a listening skills mini-assessment followed by a short discussion on conflict reducing techniques. Today’s leader gains success from effective presentations and as such participants will briefly review presentation skills.
A section on motivation challenges our thinking for what really matters the most to us in the workplace and explores motivation without focusing on pay. Today more than ever workplace leaders need good information to effectively lead and participants will engage in an experiential learning activity that helps determine the difference between fact and opinion.
The final section of this course reviews several important leadership topics and encourages participants to think about their future as a leader.
