Starting in 2010 the oldest of the baby boomers will begin to retire. The generation coming behind them is a smaller population which means if you are not planning for a labor shortage, now is the time to start. In many cases the "right" workers are not prepared for the "right" jobs.
Your organization should be considering training and development interventions for the future workforce. Many baby boomers will vacate leadership roles and other employees are not prepared to take on those leadership roles.
